Horseback Riding and Hooters!

Today was my nieces 15th Birthday! IMG_5655        I remember the first time I met her and now it is hard to believe she is this AWESOME young lady. (Well not too hard to believer because she has always been so remarkable!)

So, we decided to go horseback riding at Lake Lanier.IMG_5653Lake Lanier is about 45 minutes north of Atlanta. This is Susan’s horse Noodle…IMG_5649It was a trail ride and lasted about 45 minutes. Lake Lanier Horse 2It was peaceful and lovely. We saw two baby deer and a gosling. At the end of the ride my horse was ready to get back (it was HOT) She tried to bolt ahead, which made it really fun.

We we all hungry afterwards. We headed back to town for a big birthday lunch at Hooters. IMG_5657Okay, I did mention to our server, Gabby, that is was Ella’s Birthday. IMG_5659Ella was totally embarrassed, but, a good sport. The servers and the whole restaurant clapped and were into the singing. IMG_5662Happy Birthday to such a sweet person!!!

Quest for the Best – Chicken Wings – Zaxby’s

Zaxby’s is a cross between fast food chicken and casual dining. The restaurant was established in 1990 in Statesboro Georgia, near Georgia Southern University. It is fresh food made to order, so it takes a little time after you order.

They serve chicken fingers, chicken wings, sandwiches, salads and appetizers, and crinkle cut fries (that are really good every time!)

Wings Z 2I ordered the wings meal, 5 wings, fries and a drink. The wings were okay, they weren’t bad but for taking 20 minutes to prepare, they weren’t really hot. The sauce was good. It is a shame too, everything else I have ordered there is really good. They are supposed to come with celery, but they were out. I had not heard about a celery shortage going on. There is a grocery store down the street, wouldn’t the manager just jump in the car and run down there? It was a bit chaotic in the kitchen.

My verdict is Zaxby’s is good, but I would not get the wings there. They do have an awesome Zalad though!

Quest for the BEST – Chicken Wings

Sobban 3I read on Thrillist the best chicken wings in Atlanta were at Sobban. So I went and tried them and they are excellent. They are big wonderful tasty bites of joy! But I decided to try a few other places, so, I went to the Rusty Nail next. Wings RNThese were very good, just different, the kind you expect when you order wings. (side note, I had the Gumbo to start, that was out of this world GREAT).

The Quest continues, on to Downwind Restaurant at Peachtree DeKalb Airport. I usually get the cheeseburger here, it is just that good, one of the best in the city IMHO. Wings DW 1These were so crispy and then juicy and I would order them again. It didn’t hurt that it was a beautiful day.Wings DW 2My neighbors told me of a place I need to try and I love Hooters, wings that is! Let me know if you have a favorite. I would love some new ideas!

Sobban – Korean Southern Diner – Yum!

IMG_3940I was going to do a Quest for the Best – Chicken Wings, but I realized today, that would be too difficult. There are too many styles that are equally good, but so different. Thrillist came out with a list of the best wings across the United States. So, they listed Sobban in Atlanta as some of the BEST, I had to go try.

Sobban 1They put these cards on the tables to explain different Korean dishes. I have been here a few times and I adore their “Hot” chicken sandwich. I had to try the  wings!Sobban 3That piece of okra, awesome! The pickles so very good! The wings okay they were huge massive meaty bites of joy. I ate two and was getting full, I had ordered the Sloppy Joe sandwich too, so, I stopped at two (I took the other two home for dinner).

Sobban 5Sweet Potato Chips so yummy, the sandwich is very very very good but the wings were a tad better. Oh my waiter, Jonathan was outstanding, as have been all the people in the restaurant.

This place is so very great and I hope you can try it!
