Stone Mountain

ImageStone Mountain is a great place for a Staycationing Family.  There is SkyHike, you can trek through the tree tops and they have zip lines. You can take the SkyRide to to top or you can hike to the top. (I decided to hike, it is not easy, but, it is an accomplishment. I mean, you ARE CLIMBING A MOUNTAIN!)Image

This is from the top. That is downtown Atlanta in the background ImageThank goodness when you get to the top there is a great breeze. I met the nicest gentleman who took this photo of me and helped to teach me how to get back down.

There are trails that you can hike around the mountain also. There is also a train you can ride to go around the mountain.Image

After your day in the park they have the worlds largest laser light show with a fireworks finale!

Atlanta Movie Tours, The Margaret Mitchell Tour

ImageAtlanta Movie Tours have a few different tours available. A Walking Dead Tour, What’s Filming in Atlanta, Gone with the Wind Tour. My neighbor, Melissa and I were lucky enough to to on the Gone with the Wind Tour. Our tour guide was Margaret Mitchell herself! ImageIsn’t she cute? She was witty, clever and wise, pretty cool for being dead for so long. She showed us her home, you know the Margaret Mitchell house in Midtown. Well, it was an apartment in the house. It was really cute. Here’s the kitchen.ImageMy kitchen is small, but can you even imagine it? The tour takes you to The Margaret Mitchell House, Oakland Cemetery, and The Downtown Library.

ImageThis is her headstone. I really think the tour was great and I hope to go on another one. It is amazing all of the little facts about our great city that you can learn. It was truly amazing.

Buford Highway Farmers Market

ImageIn Atlanta we have so many varieties of Farmers Markets. This one is huge and a lot of fun. If you can go during the week, it is a lot less crowded so kids can have fun looking at all the different fruits and seafood.ImageImageThey , of course, have all kinds vegetables and they are so diverse. Image

They have a ton of different spices and nuts.Image

There is also a bakery and it smells heavenly. Image

But guess what? You can’t take photos. So, I quit, but, I have to tell you you have to go. It is incredibly clean.

They have all kinds of international foods.ImageThe variety is amazing! You have to go see for yourself! Everything is reasonably priced, too.

Go see and let me know what you think.

Au Rendez-Vous (a Restaurant)

ImageThis place is so far off of the radar. This is a little restaurant on Clairmont across from the Chamblee Library. It is french, obviously, I started with the soup, leek soup.ImageIt was very flavorful and but right. Then I panicked I ordered the French Cheeseburger. I mean they had a french menu with mussels and snails and rabbit and duck. I ordered the French Cheeseburger, but, it was very good. The croissant was excellent!

I have to go back for more. Very reasonably priced too.

Decatur Art Festival Part Deux

ImageA great deal to see at this years Decatur Art Festival. It was packed on Sunday. It is a fun thing to do for everyone in the family. They have really great musicians and some really good festival food. I had the Jalepeno corn dog. It was great! I am in trouble too, because it is so good it is craveable. They also offered healthier grub too, but hey it’s a Festival and we are on Staycation! (Yes they had funnel cakes)

They had an open mike for comedians. There were 3 of them and they were all really good. They each made me laugh out loud.

ImageThe girl is just in high school. Good fun!

There were a lot of interesting artists, photographers, jewelry artisans, wood workers and ceramist (potters). I got a really cool bracelet. Image

If you can you should try and make it next year. It really is a blast!

Bantam & Biddy

Bantam & Biddy

I dine out by myself a lot. On some occasions, you are invisible to the waitstaff, today I was semi invisible. I ordered soup and sandwich and could the soup come out first please.
Nope same time. He did refill my water though, after about 7 minutes of waiting.
But the food is out of this world. I will go back and order many other items. This was a meatloaf sandwich it was delicious!
Sometimes you can be invisible when you drive. Let me know if you have experienced this!
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

Downtown Atlanta

ImageThere are a lot of fun things to do in downtown Atlanta. There are a few movies being filmed downtown right now. I enjoyed a great bowl of soup at Legal Seafood, it was wonderful. My waiter, Chris didn’t know which movie was filming but if Angelina Jolie was involved he would jump off the building to get her autograph (he is a huge fan, duh) It took the people filming an hour to shoot an Audi drive down Luckie St.

ImageThen just a short walk into Centennial Olympic Park. They have the fountains spraying water and little kids running around and giggling, it is impossible not to get caught up in their happiness!

Image

Then onward and upward to Skyview Atlanta. I cannot lie, it is a little scary at first, but you get used to it and you can see everything!Image

That’s Bobby Dodd Stadium. I totally recommend giving it a whirl.

Next stop, CNN Center. I didn’t take the tour, maybe another day. Image

These things are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to downtown Atlanta. We will explore other things to do another day! Any questions, let me know!
