Villagio Italian Kitchen (on Clairmont Rd)

ImageImageMinestone Soup unbelievably flavorful, deep strong base with lots of veggies. Excellent start!

ImageSimple Spaghetti with meatballs, the sauce is sweeter than I am used to, but it worked. I could not stop eating it. I had some garlic bread to dunk into the sauce. This is what is left after eating for quite a while. I came to this restaurant when it was Capozzi’s and the food was not nearly as good.

As I was leaving, taking the front photo, the chef came out and introduced himself to me, Chef Scott. He told me about delicious sounding Friday specials and a Sunday Brunch that sounds outstanding. Give this place a try, I think you will be happy. Let me know what you think also.

A Little Sunday Shopping!

ImageImageImageImageThe Collection at Forsyth and The Forum is the future of shopping in the suburbs. In the burbs it is just outdoor shopping set in a Main Street setting, while intown makes these multipurpose with apartments and condos mixed in.  Restaurants are mixed in for a plus at meal time. The Forum has a really nice restaurant in Grace 1720, the food has been good, I have had service issues more than one time. There is also a Ted’s Montana Grill and La Parilla. There is also a Japanese, sushi and hibachi and an Italian restaurant. While at the Collection, there is Norman’s Landing across the street and a Red Robin and a Cheeky’s which are both very good. There are many more eateries there also.

They have some shops in common, Talbot’s, Ann Taylor, Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, and DSW Shoe Warehouse! DSW is the best, the back room is where the highest discounted shoes are, but it’s not in the back any more (still good deals to be had!!!).  There are always good sales in the back of every store.

The end of the day you have to stop by Haagen-Daz, what? They have Smoothies…and some yummy shakes. Sit out front and people watch (because the young person would not let you take photos of strangers, bummer). The end to a great shopping day!

Norman’s Landing

ImageImageThe next blog is about the shopping at The Collection at Forsyth, the one after this one. A girl has to eat! So Norman’s Landing it is!  It is a short drive from Atlanta. The bread basket is really yummy. I had the special, flounder stuffed with crabmeat with sides of field peas and steamed vegetables. But, wait, we started with fried mushrooms, it took me back to college. We always got fried mushrooms in college. They were excellent! The flounder was good, but not great. The field peas were very good. Steamed vegetables, well, they are steamed vegetables. (I should have gotten mashed potatoes)

Let me say this, everything I have ever ordered at Norman’s Landing has been very good. Veggie plate and salad included. Sorry there were no photos. Next time!

Oakland Cemetery

ImageImageImageImageImageOakland Cemetery is a great place to visit for the day. I went for a two hour tour this morning, it was a really quick two hours. So many things to see, Bobby Jone’s grave site, has a golf hole next to his headstone. So many interesting facts and people. The tour this morning was given by volunteer and my friend Melissa, she did an outstanding job.

After the tour you can keep going around the cemetery or go get some lunch at Six Feet Under (that’s what I did, oh you get a $5.00 discount) I ordered the seafood stew with fried green tomatoes and jalapeno hushpuppies. Yes, it was a lot of food, but, they have to go boxes. It was very good. The stew was great, good spice and flavor, with the seafood cooked perfectly. The fried green tomatoes were very good, the sauce on them was awesome. The hushpuppies were just okay, but my dad makes the best hushpuppies, so, it is hard to compare. ImageLet me know if you make it out there, or if you have any questions. Happy Weekend!!!

The Georgian Terrace Hotel (part 2)

ImageImageImageImageAs promised, here are some more photo’s from the Georgian Terrace Hotel.  The nice thing is they offer a “Staycation” Package taking 15% off their published rate. The lowest rate is $135.15, that is awesome for a hotel of this calibre and at this great location.  They have a rooftop pool and sundeck. The restaurant, Livingstons, is located in the hotel. It is beautiful. I did not have a chance to eat there yet, but when I do, I will let you know.

The promo code is STAY

WISE (Women in Sports and Events)

WISE (Women in Sports and Events)

My friends Andy and Sabrina with the Atlanta Braves invited me to The 10th Anniversary luncheon of WISE Atlanta. The Keynote Speaker was Sharon Byers, Senior Vice President Sports and Entertainment Marketing Coca-Cole.
Her basic point I took away was, you can do/be anything. That is a good thing in my book.
Tomorrow I will post some more photos of the lovely Georgian Terrace.

Sweet Auburn Market (Downtown)

ImageImageImageSweet Auburn Market is a fun place to explore. There are at least a dozen places to grab something to eat, from Rawesome Juicery to BBQ, Southern cooking, Coffee, and a Hot dog eatery, Grindhouse Killer Burgers, Praline Connections.

If you are looking for fresh produce and vegetables they are there too. The most impressive area was the meat and seafood area. Any kind of meat, and any cut of meat was there. The seafood looked awesome, and the prices looked excellent.

All that being said, I had a BBQ pulled pork sandwich with Brunswick stew as a side. The Brunswick stew was very good. The cole slaw was good. The spicy bread and butter pickles were great. The pulled pork was a let down, dry and tasteless. I will go back and try their other options though.
