Visit to a Spectacular Place

ImageThis is BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir.  A Mandir is a Hindu place of worship. My photos don’t do it justice. It left me in awe and and in an overwhelming sense of peace.  No photos can be taken inside.

This Mandir was inaugurated in 2007. More than 34,000 individual pieces were carved by hand in India, shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn Georgia like a grand 3 D puzzle. It is amazing!

ImageMandir is comprised of 3 different types of stone, Turkish Limestone, Italian Marble, and Indian Pink Sandstone.

Recap Plaza Fiesta

ImagePlaza Fiesta is on Buford Highway. It is a trip into another culture. You can get anything, anything you want. Do you need a western saddle? Check. Boots? Check. Jewelry? Check. Pastries? Check.

ImageA beautiful yellow gown? Check. But the best part is the food court!ImageImageThis is where I dined. It was awesome!ImageThey said this was a grilled fish, and it was delicious. It came with rice and salad and tons of french fries. I really cannot wait to go back to try a different place. There were two restaurants near the food court that were packed in the back, so, that should be something good to try.

Let me know if you have been and what you liked there! and share some photos!

Your DeKalb Farmers Market!

ImageThere are so many Farmers Markets in Atlanta. Local neighborhoods have them. One of the oldest is Your DeKalb Farmers Market.  I was on my way to Sherry’s Produce in Tucker and decided to see where Brockett Road would take me. It took me to Ponce de Leon, which took me to Your DeKalb Farmers Market! Here’s the thing, no photos can be taken inside. So, you have to go yourself. What do they have there, EVERYTHING! They have fruits and vegetables, cool ones you’ve never seen before, fresh fresh seafood and meat, pasta and sauce, oh and spices galore and breads and fresh cut flowers.

Here’s what I picked up.ImageWhoops, see the pickles? They have a deli too!

So, I have to show you Sherry’s Produce, the Buford Highway Farmers Market and any other market you would like to see, leave a comment.

One last photo, just a painting that makes me happy! Have a great weekend!

Zoo Atlanta

ImageZoo Atlanta is the perfect destination for your Staycation! It was a beautiful cool day, so the animals were out and active (for the most part.) The pandas were so cute and growing up so fast.

ImageImageThey have lots of new animals and cool plants. They are updating a lot of the animals habitats.

ImageIsn’t this cat beautiful? There are so many babies at the zoo right now. You need to check it out.

The gorillas were a hoot.ImageThis little guy had everyone in stitches. But the big guy watching over everything was the best.ImageDoesn’t he just look like a dad?

The lion cubs were sacked out. Adorable!ImageOh and a noteworthy fact, they sell beer at the zoo. I don’t think they sell much of it though, I don’t think they knew where they were, when I, oh I mean the person in front of me ordered one.

Get out there yourself and enjoy the zoo!

Atlantic Station

ImageI thought Atlantic Station might be an obvious “StayCation” idea, but until I went there myself I was a little hesitant. The last few times I had gone, it was not as populated as it was today, so, I felt totally safe and happy. There are so many stores and restaurants.  It is Atlantic Station Restaurant week this week, May 12 – 18 and benefits Autism Speaks at lunch and dinner. Participating Restaurants include: Chick-a-Biddy, Lobby Bar and Bistro, Meehan’s Public House, Copeland’s Cheesecake Bistro, Atlantic Grill, California Pizza Kitchen, Rosa Mexicano, Strip and Yard House.

I had lunch at Atlantic Grill, it was very good. Meatloaf sandwich, yummy! I know the fries look meh, but they were really good too. Service was excellent. When I left the restaurant, I crossed the street to take a photo. A very nice security guard stopped to tell me I could not take pictures. I think that is crazy so here are a couple I took.

ImageImageThen I ran into H&M. Whew it is a tough shopping environment. Lot’s of deals. I got two skirts for $10.00 and a shirt for $5.99.

ImageSo have fun at Atlantic Station but don’t take any photos, crazy I know!
