Throw Back Thursday

Erk RussellThis is Erk Russell, the greatest coach in Georgia History, my opinion, of course. Oh and that’s me, in college.

I was a photographic assistant in college and got to go to a lot of fund raisers, this man was an amazing speaker. He was also one of the kindest people I have ever met.

He was an assistant coach at University of Georgia and then Head Coach at Georgia Southern College, and that is where we met. He was a great man!

The Best Cajun in Atlanta is not in Atlanta, it’s in Douglasville.Gumbo 4It is not a bad drive from Atlanta, about 20 to 25 minutes. It’s in their cute little downtown area. I got there at 12:40 and there was a little bit of a wait.

Gumbo 3The menu is extensive. They have a bunch of PoBoys and Fried Platters but it is called Gumbeaux’s so I had to start with the seafood Gumbo.Gumbo 7It is the best Gumbo I have ever had. This is the cup of Gumbo. So for lunch I ordered the Crawfish Étouffée Gumbo 5There was a tender yummy piece of Crawfish in every bite. The side is jalapeno corn. The corn was exquisite, how could corn be that great? Well it was. To wash it all down…Gumbo 6Beautiful Blue Moon Beer….

Pet Friendly Hotels – Fun Staycation

Who doesn’t love to get away to a nice hotel? But if you could bring your best friend wouldn’t it be so much better? There are several options in Atlanta to get away with your pet.

The Westin Peachtree Plaza imagesThis is a fun get away in downtown Atlanta.  It also has a rotating bar and restaurant at the top, so you get spectacular views of the city. (the pets can’t go there though) You can bring two dogs max and there is no pet fee.

The Four Seasons Hotel in Midtown allows 3 pets any size and no pet fee. IMG_3721It is beautiful and super friendly.

One of my favorite hotels is The Loews Hotels. Unknown-1They have a VIP program, Very Importannt Pet. Upon arrival your pet receives a name tag, a bowl and a bag of treats. I actually stayed in one in Nashville. It was unbelievably nice. The room the view the people, I totally recommend it!
