Tucker Day!

Surprise, It’s Tucker Day! I went to report so you can make plans for next year. Main St. is taken over with bands at both ends and booths line the street.

ImageAll of the music was very good.

The booths featured jewelry and artwork, ceramics a few massage areas and a few politicians oh and the Rotary Club was there raising money to help combat polio.

ImageImageRestaurants and stores were all open for business. I dined at The Old Tucker Fountain.

ImageIt was really really good. The hotdogs are split and grilled, very tasty.

The weather was overcast, which was really nice. A few blocks away they were having a plant sale.

There were a lot of lovable dogs. I will close with this photo of this snappy dresser. Plan to go next year!Image

The State Farmers Market

ImageThe State Farmers Market is in Forrest Park, just south of the Hartsfield/Jackson Airport. This place is so fun on so many levels! Visually to see all the fruits and vegetables. The assortment is amazing. They have garbanzo beans, I have never seen those before.

ImageThen the other fun part are the prices. I got two tomatoes, two avocados, two jalapeno peppers, and 5 limes for $4 dollars. Bargains are always fun.

Image

Wait, that’s not all happening at the Farmers Market, they have plants, trees, flowering plants, vegetables and containers.

ImageIt is so fun and beautiful.

There are a couple of places to eat there also, the main restaurant at the front of the market and there’s a little burrito place near the plants. I have not eaten at either, but when I do I will let you know.

David’s Produce (on LaVista)

ImageDavid’s Produce & Specialties is a super fun shop crammed full of a crazy array of sauces, soups, jams, veggies, eggs, fresh butterbeans, black eyed peas, cakes, cookies, brownies, grits, cornmeal and knives. Two years ago I bought the greatest tomato knife here.

But, before you enter, you have to walk around front to see all of their BEAUTIFUL flowers, they are extremely healthy. There are also a great variety of plants.

Image

Go inside and don’t get overwhelmed, there are a lot of things in here, but it is also very comfortable. Do you like hot sauces or know someone that does, you have to check out the variety. It is awesome!

ImageWhat did I pick up? Some grits, Low Country Creole, Boiled Peanuts, Tomatoes, okay, I picked up some Brownies too… David said they were great!IMG_1120

Go check it out, I know I probably forgot something, let me know what you think.

Running Errands

ImageI needed a new battery for my watch, so I walked (a really good walk) to Bowers Watch and Clock Repair. I have been going to them for years, since they were in Lindbergh Plaza, whew, that’s a long time ago. (Now they are on Cheshire Bridge)

Then on to CVS, I was looking for a Clorox Bleach stick. If you have never tried these they are great. If you have dirty grout, just squeeze some bleach in there let it sit and rinse it off. CVS does not carry it, so on to Publix, of course, they have it!

It was a beautiful day. Great day for a long walk and lots of beautiful flowers! Enjoy every day of your Staycation!

Decatur GA!

ImageThis is one of my favorite places in Atlanta and when you go you will totally understand why. It’s a great small town feeling with lots of friendly people, just a great vibe! I will revisit often to show you more, this is just the beginning. Squash Blossom Boutique has unique cute clothing, shoes and accessories. It is trendsetting.

The restaurants are part of the greatness! Iberian Pig, awesome memorable meals! Sweet Melissa’s has some great and I mean great breakfast meals. There is one restaurant that has dishes that are craveable to me.

ImageThey have a a lot of dishes with Hatch chiles. They have a green chile roast every year in September. But the thing I love best are the enchiladas, order them and then thank me. The chowder is awesome also! I was hesitant to share, but it is so great, you must at least try it.

That’s it for Decatur today, but I will return and bring you some great info!
