Saigon Cafe
Okay I needed to try a new Pho place for Staycationers. So, I drove towards Decatur and stopped in at Saigon Cafe…I was very glad I did.
It is a comfy spot.
I started with Cha Gio Chay which is shredded cabbage, celery, mushrooms and carrots wrapped in rice paper and deep fried. It was good, but there is so much soup in the medium, too much food. (How could it ever be too much, huh?)
I order the Pho Tai – it is thin rare eye round steak that is cooked in the broth right in your bowl with rice noodles and topped with scallions and onions and whatever else you would like to put in it from here…
The bean sprouts with cilantro and basil and jalepenos.
These jalepenos are super spicy and super good!
My verdict is it is very good. The broth is not as deep as Pho Bac, but it is very good and the meat is actually more flavorful.
Oh, and if you are a record collector, two doors down is a vinyl store…
It is a great option in the neighborhood!
Providence Canyon State Park Tour
Ranger Trena Evans will be leading visitors into the canyons and back in time to discover the geological history of the canyons. The canyons were formed due to poor farming practices.
It is kind of unfathomable how this could have occurred because it is massive.
The floors of the canyons can be wet and muddy, so wear the correct footwear.
Oh remember to bring some water and your camera. Admission is $5.00 and parking is $5.00 also. They have a tour on March 28th 11:00 till 1:00. Let me know if you would like to go!
They have another tour Saturday April 18th. The next tour is not until October 3rd.

Snowy Day – Il Bacio – Comfort Italian Food
Il Bacio
is located on Sidney Marcus across from the Home Depot. It is a really good pizza place. I had always ordered a slice of pizza.
It was always very good. Then, I ordered a fish dish one time and it was great. So today I ordered a pasta soup and spaghetti and meatballs. Such a disappointment.
The soup was flavorless. Simply boring. The spaghetti and meatballs
were okay, well, the pasta was good and the marinara was good but the meatballs were too dense and just not good.
When I return, and I will, I advise you to order the pizza.
Avocado salad pizza, need I say more? Oh and they have gelato! Yummy!
Ice off the Trail
It was really super cold in Atlanta last week, not as cold as up North but cold for us southerners. So, Coop wanted to go off the trail…
He is very persuasive.
So we walked down to the dam.
I am going to go on the other side to see if I can get a better picture.
They knocked a hole in the dam so, the creek could flow through.
Then I saw the ice on the rock.
We came across this cute bench off the trail.
Well the weather people are reporting we might get snow again tonight. Things go crazy if there might be snow or if there is snow. People hoard bread and milk, go figure….I just make sure I get to the liquor store.
Chinese New Year
It is the Year of the Sheep (or Goat) and we celebrated at the Culture Center of Taipei & Cultural Office in Atlanta.
We sampled dumplings and noodles, buns and wraps. They have food stalls all around the perimeter of the Center. Then we went outside for the Lion Dance.

But the best part is this….
Then next the Dragon roared out….
Then we went to get some Pho…
We went to Pho Bac and it is located in a shopping center where they were setting off firecrackers at each place of business. It sounded like it was pouring down rain outside. Then the Dragons were back.
They are setting off tons of firecrackers and yet exhaustion set in on this little one.
Happy New Year!
