Christmas Gift Ideas Part 2

Christmas BlondiesMason jar filled with bite size Blondies. (The easiest treat to make in the world, but don’t tell anyone!) A little ribbon around the top and a cute label. Gift done!

I have been trying for a while to come up with a brownie recipe I am happy with. I really like this one. BrowniesI put toll house cookie dough on the bottom and then put in the brownie on the top. Brownies aren’t too tough to make, just a lot of stirring. I put some of these in Christmas Ziploc Plastic containers. I think people really appreciate you taking the time to bake for them. I have not gotten any feedback on the Brownies yet, but I will keep you posted!

Quest for the Best – Fajitas – La Hacienda

IMG_4153Oh Yes, La Hacienda is in Midtown Atlanta. The staff is super nice and the food is very good!

The cheese dip is great, because it has the chopped up jalepenos and they do not charge you extra for them. You start with two types of salsa.Fajitas2The yummy cheese dip….Fajitas1Then the fajitas…Fajitas 4Yeah! They cut the chicken up before they cooked them. These were very good. Fajitas 5Beans and rice, pico and guac, all very good, the rice especially.

Fajitas3Cute decor. I recommend this place as very good for fajitas.

Christmas Gift Ideas!

My neighbor wanted to give her niece a dog ornament for Christmas. So, I had these ceramic square ornaments. I printed a photo of one of her dogs and glued it to the ornament then finished it. Here is one of them. IMG_4155This is Hobie, quite the handsome dog. What I was making before this were these….IMG_4158This is Catfish, I printed in black and white, mounted to a canvas and finished with a dull Mod Podge….Here is Pumpkin IMG_4160Then the last one I have done is Addie. IMG_4164 Then all three on the mantel.IMG_4172Then I found these two books yesterday. They are awkward moments told by cute little animal, in a book, but postcards. IMG_4167and IMG_4166Are those a hoot or what? I can’t believe I have never seen them before.Do you have good christmas ideas?

Christmas on the Trail

IMG_4110We started on the trail and came upon this tree. It had about 15 ornaments and some red garland and gold garland. I think I will take an ornament on my walk tomorrow to add to the tree.IMG_4149The beautiful red berries on the bushes are natures decoration. IMG_4135These lovely little flowers decorated the path.IMG_4130This Hairy Woodpecker was busy at work. IMG_4146Whoops something is wrong with the picture. Merry Christmas to all!!!

Manicotti Tonight

Manicotti 2This is my first attempt at Manicotti. Yes, it was delicious, the photo doesn’t do it justice. I used spicy turkey sausage for the sauce, The best part was the Ricotta cheese filling. I put it in a zip lock bag and cut off the tip on one side and I was filling the first and it was like a sitcom, it squirted out the top. I ended up filling them by hand. It was pretty funny. If you would like the recipe, let me know.

I made something else this week that I have never made before a Cajun Chicken Cassoulet. It had okra and chicken and sausage, andouille. This was very tasty. Again, if you would like this recipe let me know.

Sometimes enjoying a Staycation, you can have fun cooking!

Six Feet Under Pub and Fish House

I was craving Fish Stew. It was grey and rainy out so, comfort food was in my head. Six Feet Under 5First the name Six Feet Under, their first location is across from Oakland Cemetery, a really big cemetery (people are dying to get into it!) A lot of old famous Atlantans are buried there. Margaret Mitchell and Bobby Jones to name a couple.

So, that one was so successful they added another one in the westside of Atlanta. Six Feet Under 6They have these cool prints of Atlanta and lots of photos of Oakland Cemetery.Six Feet Under 4It was extremely busy, but they seated me right away. My waiter Harley, great guy, not the quickest fellow, but he did have a few tables. He made up for his tardiness by being really super nice. I started with this. Six Feet Under 2Two Stone Crab Claws! Yahoo!

Then the yummy Fish Stew. Six Feet Under 8This Stew is excellent. Shrimp, mussels, scallops, and a huge piece of fish. Two big pieces of bread for dunking!

Off the TRAIL !

Coop and I decided to go off the trail today and this is what we saw.IMG_4055Lots of graffiti.IMG_4057and more graffitiIMG_4060oh wait there was even more graffiti.IMG_4065But if you look closely, it is really some cool artwork. Then we went down to the creek.IMG_4073It was really nice out today.IMG_4076Then we had to get back to the trail.IMG_4077Up this little hill, and then we found it.IMG_4082It was a great day for exploring. IMG_4079can you see the chimney? IMG_4064This is where the original Decatur water works were like a million years ago. Now it’s just ruins or canvas for graffiti. There are a lot more trails off the trail so new adventures await. Coop was really pooped afterwards. IMG_4053
