Kennesaw Mountain
Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
is a 2,965 acre national park that preserves the civil war battleground of the Atlanta Campaign. Opposing forces maneuvered and fought here from June 19, 1864 until July 2, 1864.
We started at the top of Kennesaw mountain, which the elevation is 1,808 above sea level.
We can see Atlanta, Buckhead, Stone Mountain. It is so cool.
Okay it was a little hazy. We took this photo by one of the cannons on Kennesaw Mountain…
We kept walking on to Little Kennesaw Mountain and then that leads to Pigeon Hill…
We didn’t go all of the way to Pigeon Hill but we walked a long way. The one thing Ella and I kept saying as we were hiking is they brought those cannons all the way up here in those uniforms, we do not know how.
It was a great day for hiking and fun to do, I totally recommend it for Staycationers, oh and visitors to our city.
Coop The Cartoon
Henry’s Louisiana Grill
My two nieces, Ella and Zelda accompanied me to Acworth Georgia (about 30 minutes north of Atlanta). We were on a mission to try Henry’s for Cajun food.
First a little about Acworth, it is an adorable little town with cute older homes and Lake Acworth and an adorable Main Street.
They have gotten some of their 4th of July decorations out, as Zelda met Uncle Sam…
Then on to Henry’s.
We were seated immediately in a cool cute restaurant with lots of warm woods and church pews and lots of New Orleans artwork and treasures.
We were served bread, two kinds, a cornbread and sourdough, both extremely yummy, but the cornbread won with just a tad of spice to it.
My niece, Zelda, had never had Cajun so we ordered the sampler appetizer with Gumbo, Crawfish Étouffée, and Jambalaya. We then order some hushpuppies and Fried Étouffée.
It was all delicious. Just the right amount of heat to everything. (If you needed extra, they have a large variety of hot sauces on the table)
These are two of the hushpuppies. I have never tasted hushpuppies like these, they were out of this world.
The service was excellent. Chef Henry came out and put beads around our necks. It was a great time and great food. We will return and recommend that you should try it out!
Maison Robert – Chocolatier Amazing
My niece passed her Driving Learners Permit test today, so she asked what should we do? Drive and Celebrate I replied. We went to a parking lot and she drove. Then she got bored so we went to have Pho…
It is soooo good, ridiculous!
But then, we ventured on to Maison Robert….
It is a Chocolatier in Chamblee.
This place has excellent chocolates and gifts…

We ordered two of about four different truffles. (They are very small, don’t judge) They are really great, really. It is a super cute spot and they have classes.
They have sandwiches and salads too. The building is really cool too.
Horseback Riding and Hooters!
Today was my nieces 15th Birthday!
I remember the first time I met her and now it is hard to believe she is this AWESOME young lady. (Well not too hard to believer because she has always been so remarkable!)
So, we decided to go horseback riding at Lake Lanier.
Lake Lanier is about 45 minutes north of Atlanta. This is Susan’s horse Noodle…
It was a trail ride and lasted about 45 minutes.
It was peaceful and lovely. We saw two baby deer and a gosling. At the end of the ride my horse was ready to get back (it was HOT) She tried to bolt ahead, which made it really fun.
We we all hungry afterwards. We headed back to town for a big birthday lunch at Hooters.
Okay, I did mention to our server, Gabby, that is was Ella’s Birthday.
Ella was totally embarrassed, but, a good sport. The servers and the whole restaurant clapped and were into the singing.
Happy Birthday to such a sweet person!!!
Atlanta Beltline
We started in The Old Fourth Ward and climbed up to the Beltline.
This is looking down at the Old Fourth Ward from the Beltline…
The Beltline is very well kept and has amazing artwork and architecture on the walk.
This is Ponce City Market, it is going to be super cool for great shops and unique places to eat.
Cool artwork on the Beltline!

The Beltline leads you into Piedmont Park and this group of bike riders came up behind me…
Apparently the Atlanta Police must have a bike riding series for kids for the summer…pretty cool!
If you have the chance, you really need to check it out…
(Additional information….this was built on old railway corridors and the Ponce City Market was the old Sears Building. The trains would run directly into the Sears Building, thus this sign…
Pretty cool huh?)
