Sunday Wedding Cake and Prosecco

My neighbors had a fun idea of how to spend out Sunday afternoon….With a Wedding Cupcake and a few glasses of Prosecco.

IMG_4745Isn’t is beautiful? IMG_4743That is Melissa in a crown. We are all special! IMG_4749This is Catherine and her adorable niece Madeline in the other crown.(Pink is her favorite color!) IMG_4748This is Will cutting the cake! It was a lovely day and a lovely way to spend an afternoon. I recommend it for everyone!

North Fork Creekside Trail

Creek TrailWe woke up this morning to snow. It really improved this afternoon, so we (Coop and I), walked to the trail.Trail 9It was about 45 degrees and sunny. A beautiful walk! We came across these guys.Trail 2It is like a beach underneath the expressway.Trail 3A smelly dirty beach but a beach, oh with homeless people. Then we crossed the bridge.

Trail 7Cool huh? But the most exciting part of the walk was across LaVista. They have started a new part to the trail.Trail 16Crazy, it says the trail will take you to Emory University, which is quite a way away. Trail 12It is still a little mucky and rustic, but hey it’s a trail on a beautiful day.

We did come across a few questionable items.Trail 1How do you lose one shoe? Trail 14There were actually two shopping carts. Oh and as we were walking home we walked through a Wells Fargo drive through, where a super nice teller gave Coop a dog bone. He is a picky eater, but he loved the milk bone. What a great ending to a great walk!

Saigon Cafe

IMG_4742   IMG_4733Okay I needed to try a new Pho place for Staycationers. So, I drove towards Decatur and stopped in at Saigon Cafe…I was very glad I did.

Saigon 2It is a comfy spot.Saigon 3I started with Cha Gio Chay which is shredded cabbage, celery, mushrooms and carrots wrapped in rice paper and deep fried. It was good, but there is so much soup in the medium, too much food. (How could it ever be too much, huh?)

Saigon 1 I order the Pho Tai – it is thin rare eye round steak that is cooked in the broth right in your bowl with rice noodles and topped with scallions and onions and whatever else you would like to put in it from here…Saigon 6The bean sprouts with cilantro and basil and jalepenos.Saigon 5These jalepenos are super spicy and super good!

My verdict is it is very good. The broth is not as deep as Pho Bac, but it is very good and the meat is actually more flavorful.

Oh, and if you are a record collector, two doors down is a vinyl store…IMG_4738 It is a great option in the neighborhood!

Providence Canyon State Park Tour

IMG_2477Ranger Trena Evans will be leading visitors into the canyons and back in time to discover the geological history of the canyons. The canyons were formed due to poor farming practices.IMG_2418It is kind of unfathomable how this could have occurred because it is massive.

The floors of the canyons can be wet and muddy, so wear the correct footwear.IMG_2413 Oh remember to bring some water and your camera. Admission is $5.00 and parking is $5.00 also. They have a tour on March 28th 11:00 till 1:00. Let me know if you would like to go!IMG_2483They have another tour Saturday April 18th. The next tour is not until October 3rd.

Snowy Day – Il Bacio – Comfort Italian Food

Il Bacio lis located on Sidney Marcus across from the Home Depot. It is a really good pizza place. I had always ordered a slice of pizza. oIt was always very good. Then, I ordered a fish dish one time and it was great. So today I ordered a pasta soup and spaghetti and meatballs. Such a disappointment. Il Bacio 2The soup was flavorless. Simply boring. The spaghetti and meatballs Il Bacio 1were okay, well, the pasta was good and the marinara was good but the meatballs were too dense and just not good.

When I return, and I will, I advise you to order the pizza.l-1Avocado salad pizza, need I say more? Oh and they have gelato! Yummy!

Ice off the Trail

It was really super cold in Atlanta last week, not as cold as up North but cold for us southerners. So, Coop wanted to go off the trail…IMG_4523He is very persuasive.IMG_4528So we walked down to the dam.IMG_4535I am going to go on the other side to see if I can get a better picture. IMG_4537They knocked a hole in the dam so, the creek could flow through. IMG_4545Then I saw the ice on the rock. IMG_4546

We came across this cute bench off the trail. IMG_4551Well the weather people are reporting we might get snow again tonight. Things go crazy if there might be snow or if there is snow. People hoard bread and milk, go figure….I just make sure I get to the liquor store.
